We are incredibly excited to announce a major new chapter for Seaside Imaging of Florida!
In addition to the elective ultrasound experiences our families already know and love, we have officially gone live with diagnostic obstetric ultrasound services, with diagnostic studies interpreted by Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians through Ouma Health.
This expansion allows us to combine local, personalized ultrasound care with physician interpretation—giving expecting families in Yulee, Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, Jacksonville, and surrounding Northeast Florida communities another option for accessing pregnancy ultrasound services closer to home. Currently, our diagnostic services are not billable by us through insurance. However, we can provide a detailed invoice so that you may submit for reimbursement through your insurance.
What Is a Diagnostic Pregnancy Ultrasound?
Unlike an elective keepsake ultrasound, a diagnostic obstetric ultrasound is a medical examination performed to evaluate specific aspects of a pregnancy.
Depending on the type of examination ordered and the patient's individual needs, a diagnostic ultrasound may evaluate things such as:
Pregnancy location and viability (Currently we can only scan transabdominally, though transvaginal scans will be offered in the near future)
Gestational age and dating
Fetal growth and development
Fetal anatomy
Placental location Transabdominally currently
Amniotic fluid levels
Fetal presentation
Multiple pregnancies
Other medically indicated areas of concern
Diagnostic ultrasound examinations require an appropriate medical order and are interpreted by a qualified physician.
Expert MFM Interpretation Through Ouma Health
One of the things we are most excited about is our collaboration with Ouma Health for physician interpretation of our diagnostic obstetric ultrasound studies.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians—often called MFM specialists or perinatologists—are OB/GYN physicians who complete additional fellowship training focused on high-risk pregnancy, fetal diagnosis, maternal complications, and advanced obstetric ultrasound.
After a diagnostic study is performed at Seaside Imaging of Florida, the ultrasound images and clinical information can be securely transmitted for physician review and interpretation through Ouma Health. A diagnostic report is then generated for the appropriate healthcare provider.
This allows the ultrasound itself to be performed locally while providing access to specialized physician interpretation.

For us, this expansion is about much more than adding another service.
It's about access.
Expecting families already have enough appointments, responsibilities, and things to worry about. Having additional options for high-quality pregnancy imaging close to home can make prenatal care a little more convenient.
Our goal is to help bridge the gap between the personalized experience of a local ultrasound studio and the clinical standards required for diagnostic imaging.

Diagnostic ultrasound is a medical examination performed for a clinical purpose, requires the appropriate medical pathway/order, and receives physician interpretation and a diagnostic report.
We're thrilled to be able to offer both types of services while maintaining the purpose and standards of each.
